Astellas - case study

The challenge:

Astellas’ new HQ covering 100,000 sq. over three floors demonstrates its status as a global pharmaceutical business and major investor in people and new technologies. The new HQ needed to provide employees with an inspiring and collaborative space that supports various working styles but which, just as importantly, also creates a cultural change by unifying its previously distributed teams.

The background:

We were called in for the relocation not only because of our long-standing relationship with Astellas but also because we represented best value for money when it came to refurbishing and re-using its existing Steelcase furniture stock.

The solution:

Simply refreshing the seat pads gave the impression of a new chair without compromising its ergonomic performance. Other products selected from the Steelcase portfolio included ‘Universal’ pedestals and ‘Touchdown’ meeting tables. These products, along with other third party soft seating products, create a colourful, inspiring and collaborative space for Astellas’ workforce.

The new Astellas HQ is now an environment which promotes collaboration and clearly reflects the company’s brand and culture. We are proud to have partnered with Astellas on this project and congratulate the Astellas Project Management team on winning the national British Council of Offices award in the category of Fit out of Workplace.
